Creative, hairstylist, musician, artist—that’s how most would describe this Fleet member. Meet Eric.
Born and raised in Upstate New York, Eric Lewis has spent his life surrounded by creatives and musicians. At the age of 12, Eric’s grandmother gifted him his very first guitar and it was love at first sight.
As Eric grew up, he knew that art was what he wanted to do with his life. In order to pursue his dream, Eric needed a source of income that was offered flexible working times. That’s when Postmates stepped into frame.
With three years of Postmating under his belt, Eric is able to support himself and live his dream as a creative individual.
When it comes to music, it’s clear that Eric’s main passion lies between the strings of his guitar. “I started playing when I was 12 and I just knew that music was going to be my niche. My father plays a little. He rebuilds guitars—kind of a guitar repairman. Music and guitars have kind of been in my environment my whole life.”
Eric describes his musical style as pop-punk, inspired by artists like Brand New, Blink 182, MGK, The Used and anything acoustic. His eclectic taste in tunes makes for well-rounded, familiar melodies that feel warm, yet explosive.
Music isn’t the only form of artistic expression Eric has—he has also worked as a hairstylist for the last seven years.
“I found out the school I wanted to go to has a cosmetology course. My other option was welding, and I knew I didn’t want to do that for the rest of my life, so I figured I’d try it out and I loved it. It just clicked with me, so I decided to follow through with it.”
“Artistic expression is so important. If you have no way to express yourself; some type of outlet or hobby, life becomes stale. If I had no way to artistically express myself, I’d probably go insane.”
