LA-based Postmate Alexia Anastasio is larger than life.
There’s something about the very palpable energy she brings to each conversation that leaves you feeling like you’ve just chugged 3 shots of espresso and could run a marathon without a day of training.
She’s the kind of person you want in your friend group, because you are automatically cooler just by virtue of knowing her. Case in point: She casually says things like “best friend magic” and “narratives are a cathartic release” mid-conversation.
Knowing all of this, it is likely no surprise that Anastasio is not only a Postmate, but also a filmmaker. When she’s not delivering lattes and poke bowls with us, you can find her producing six feature films for submission to the Berlin International Film Festival, Berlinale. She got her first taste of theatrics at 11 years old when her mother enrolled her in acting classes hoping that it would help her overcome her shy and timid demeanor. It worked. The stage provided a safe space during what is almost always a miserable time for adolescents.
“One day I can be a doctor, and another day I can be something else. Theater gave me an outlet and permission to be me.”
Unlike most hobbies taken up in middle school, this one stuck. For the past 18 years, Anastasio has worked in the entertainment industry across a myriad of roles including director, producer, writer, and actress, with a major emphasis on narrative work.
“Documentaries are how I learn and can inspire others to live an art filled life.”
And that’s not all — Anastasio is also a life-coach and can help you figure out how to live your best life so you too can be an all around badass. She has an affinity for the mysterious workings of the universe, which she credits as one of the reasons she loves delivering for Postmates. True to artist form, she revels in the journey, experience, and story behind each seemingly menial interaction. Postmates offers a unique opportunity to meet people and see things she might otherwise miss out on. It is central to her art.
“Postmates is this manifestation game. The universe is deciding where I should go next. And I let the universe decide what films to produce.”
Which, ICYMI, means your burrito order is the inspiration feeding this filmmaker’s soul.
