National Hispanic Heritage Month is a period from September 15th to October 15th in the United States for recognizing the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States.
Postmates has partnered with Mission Graduates to celebrate the month and the incredible work that they do. Mission Graduates increases the number of K-12 students in San Francisco who are prepared for and complete a college education. Founded in 1972, Mission Graduates provides a wide range of after-school, in-school, and summer programs helping to establish college education as an expectation and goal for every child. Each year, Mission Graduates reaches over 4,800 low-income children, youth, and families in San Francisco, emphasizing college as a means to achieve economic equity and strengthen the fabric of our community.
This fall, Mission Graduates will implement and nurture a Community Hub in San Francisco’s SOMA district to support students facing significant challenges to distance learning at home, including families experiencing homelessness. Mission Graduates will provide in-person support for children and youth, access to WiFi and digital learning services, healthy snacks and meals, enrichment activities, and mental health, wellness, and family support resources.
Mission Graduates approached Postmates to partner with their October 2020 Food for Thought campaign as we all work to pivot from an in-person world of dining during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our Civic Labs team was happy to support where we could, leveraging the work we do with restaurants on a daily basis to keep those in our communities thriving.
