There are more than 53,000 people suffering from homelessness and hunger on any given night in the Greater Los Angeles Area. We are committed to helping our neighbors get access to nutritious meals—which is why we started FoodFight! in 2018. Now, 3000+ restaurants in 19 cities can tap a button to request a Postmate to pick up excess food and deliver it to nearby shelters and non-profits.
Press button. Stop food waste. The Butcher’s Daughter, a plant-based restaurant and juice bar in LA, is one of the restaurants that chips in by donating their leftovers. “At the end of the night, we have excess product that we can’t use the next day,” said Executive Chef, Richard Ray. “This FoodFight! Program is the first efficient system being put in place. It’s literally a click of a button, someone shows up to your door, we’ll load it up, and it couldn’t be any easier.”
Shared food. Shared values. Other restaurants supporting the LA community in the fight against hunger and food waste include top donators Carrera Cafe and Ethiopian restaurant Azla Vegan.
Azla’s mission aligns with FoodFight’s goals. The restaurant’s ethos is: “With art and storytelling at our core, we exist to nourish our community on every level."
Carrera Cafe, who has requested deliveries to The Midnight Mission over 170 times, loves being part of FoodFight!. “The program is an absolute necessity and an ideal way for restaurants like Carrera Cafe to give back to those that are less fortunate. We pride ourselves on doing what’s right, and nothing is more meaningful than feeding the disadvantaged.”
