Postmates is giving businesses an easy and quick way to reopen: Introducing Curbside Pickup
Today we’re introducing an industry first: Curbside Pickup. This new pickup product for merchants is meant to help responsibly accelerate reopening of local businesses by enabling customers and fleet to pick up orders curbside, rather than going into the physical store — a capability that most businesses don’t currently have today. Any merchant with a Postmates tablet can now offer curbside pickup via Postmates. Merchants will also be able to decide if they want to only offer curbside pickup.
To use this feature, the merchant chooses whether or not they want to hand off their goods curbside. If the customer chooses pickup, the customer will “Check In” in real time when they get to the merchant to notify them to come outside. The fleet app will also support curbside pickup, so Postmates will be able to let the merchant know that they are there to pick up the item. Postmates was the first to introduce non-contact delivery at the beginning of March. We see curbside pickup as another innovation to help further protect the population from COVID-19, while enabling our merchant partners to open their restaurants and stores back up to the public.
