A Special Receipt: The Weeknd

As part of this special edition of The Receipt, Postmates will be donating to the United Nations Foundation COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. Their goal is to support health workers on the frontlines, maintain intensive care units, and accelerate research and development of vaccines and therapeutics.

The Weeknd’s purchases are a great example of how to use Postmates to support your local favorites.

Between late-night studio sessions recording his new album ‘After Hours’ and on-screen fights with Adam Sandler, Abel Tesfaye (aka The Weeknd) still finds time to support his favorite local restaurants.

How? He uses Postmates. Often.

Turns out, The Weeknd — who prefers a plant-based diet — loves pasta, dessert, and locally-run restaurants in LA. His top 5 most ordered items are:

  • Keto Smoothie from Kreation
  • Spicy Rigatoni Vodka from Crossroads
  • The Beyond Cheeseburger from Fresh on Sunset
  • Hot bar from Erewhon
  • Deep Fried Oreos from The Carving Board

Working remotely? Well sometimes The Weeknd does too — but it’s normally at a recording studio or on the set of a music video. Spending all that time making new music works up an appetite.

His go-to while recording After Hours was vegan food from local restaurants, and lots of it. Whether it’s veggie bites from Crossroads or an Impossible burger from Vow Burger, The Weeknd keeps it plant-based and extra tasty while supporting Mom & Pop shops.

He toasted the wrap of the ‘Blinding Lights’ shoot by Postmating Green Juice from Erewhon. And those infamous black gloves he wears in the video? Yeah, he Postmated those too.

Heck, he even got the Advil he needed after getting beat up on camera delivered. The synthy song has been on the charts ever since, and we can’t help but take the teeniest amount of credit.

The props don’t stop there. For his Saturday, March 6, 2020 performance on Saturday Night Live, The Weeknd forgot to bring his signature nose bandaid for his performance. No problem at all — he just Postmated it.

He’s also got a thing for breakfast, having one time Postmated a single cup of Orange Juice from a local favorite, The Nook Restaurant, at 10am. It was his smallest order ever, but hey when you’re thirsty, you’re thirsty.

On April 27, 2018, The Weeknd placed a personal record of 4 Postmates orders in a single day. And as the old saying goes, you can’t place 4 orders in one day if you don’t start early. Here’s how it went down:

  • 3am — Denny’s
The Super Bird®, Double Cheeseburger, New! Peanut Butter Cream Pancake Breakfast, Prime Rib Philly Melt, New! Grilled Chicken Tuscan Sandwich, Mozzarella Cheese Sticks
  • 11am — The Cheesecake Factory
Cajun Chicken “Littles”, Seared Tuna Tataki Salad, Chicken, Mango & Avocado Salad, Tex Mex Eggrolls
  • 8pm — Joey
    Yellowfin Tuna Salad, Sliders Royale
  • 11pm — Almaza
Mixed Kabob, Chicken Kabob, Tabboulieh Salad, Cheese Rolls, Soda

But it’s not all deep fried Oreos and breakfast runs. At 7am on October 26, 2017, The Weeknd Postmated a leash and chew toys from Happy Paws for his beloved Caesar. But hey, dog owners need to play too.

That’s why on August 17, 2018, he stayed in and ordered board games. Connect Four, Pictionary, Code Names, Uno Deluxe, Scattegories, Big Boggle, Mancala, Taboo, Operation, and Catch Phrase were all delivered from Barnes & Noble for an epic game night at home.

When he’s not busy working, The Weeknd unwinds the old fashioned way — with video games. He’s Postmated Call of Duty not once, but twice.

  • December 8, 2016 — Call of Duty Advanced Warfare from GameStop
  • October 24, 2018 — Call of Duty Black Ops 4 PS4 from GameStop

And he’s placed over 300 Postmates orders, so it’s safe to say that while he’s busy breaking in a new game on the couch, we bring him another local, vegan lunch.

Visit Postmates.com or open the app to place an order from a restaurant in your neighborhood.
