Total time: 15 minutes. makes 5 servings. you will need. 1 pkg. mccormick sauce mix. 2-1/4 cups water. 1 can (6 oz.) tomato paste (substition: use 1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce in place of tomato paste and reduce water to 1-1/2 cups). 1 tbsp. oil or butter (optional). directions: 1. stir sauce mix, water, tomato paste and oil in medium saucepan until well blended. 2. bring to boil. cover. reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. for thicker sauce: reduced water to 1-3/4 cups if using tomato paste. reduce water to 1 cup if using tomato sauce. kitchen tips: serve over pasta and sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese, if desired. italian-style meat sauce: brown 1/2 lb. lean ground beef or turkey in medium skillet. drain fat. stir in sauce mix, water, tomato paste and oil. continue as directed. makes 3-1/2 cups.
